The Website Developer is responsible for the full life-cycle delivery and ongoing maintenance of marketing and brochure websites built on WordPress and Wix. The role works closely with UX/UI designers, content teams and project managers to translate business requirements into secure, high-performance web experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Website Development
- Build responsive WordPress and Wix websites, including custom themes, templates and modules.
- Configure and maintain plugins, apps and CMS collections.
- Implement e-commerce functionality with WooCommerce or Wix Stores when required.
Site Migration and Integration
- Migrate legacy websites HTML, other CMS to WordPress or Wix.
- Integrate third-party services such as CRM, analytics, marketing-automation tools, booking engines and payment gateways.
Performance and SEO Optimisation
- Optimise sites for speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile responsiveness and accessibility WCAG 2.1 AA.
- Apply on-page and technical SEO best practices, including structured data and schema markup.
Quality Assurance and Maintenance
- Conduct cross-browser and device testing, troubleshoot defects and apply updates, backups and security hardening.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for each project.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Support
- Participate in discovery sessions, estimate effort and advise on technical feasibility.
- Present prototypes and completed builds to clients and provide CMS training.
- Offer post-launch support and continuous improvement recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Proficiency in:
- WordPress PHP, Gutenberg, Elementor, Divi or similar page builders.
- Wix Classic Editor, Wix Studio and Velo scripting.
- Front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 Flexbox/Grid and JavaScript ES6.
- Familiar with enough PHP to modify/build small plugins
- Knowledge of javascript for DOM modifications
