Tasks and responsibilities
- The creative team will be expected to record and capture captivating moments during all sessions and planned activities to deliver high quality of work and designs for various actions.
Before the Festival:
- Familiarise themselves with the Festival theme, agenda, facilitators, and participants' profiles.
- Attend a pre-festival briefing with UAF-Africa communications and Programmes teams.
- Discuss and agree on consent and guiding documents.
- Agree on editorial direction, consent protocols, and visual storytelling approach.
- Develop a work plan and creative brief aligned with the Festival’s goals.
During the festival:
- Fill and gather appropriate written and signed permissions and consent forms for all video interviews and photographs.
- Capture key moments in plenaries, group sessions, fireside chats, performances, and informal interactions.
- Engage with WHRDs, activists and artists to gather powerful images, audio-visual testimonies and narratives.
- Pay attention to actions, emotions, and expressions during the deliberations.
- Work with the highest professional ethical standards and in keeping with the festivals core messages.
- Ensure that the video content is being captured with highest broadcast quality of videography: minimum HD 1920x1080 or better.
- Ensure good command of own videographic/photographic equipment cameras, lenses, lights, filters, tripods, as well as video/photo-related image editing software.
- To capture digital images in high resolution shot as a RAW file 300 pixels/inch: minimum size 3000 x 2000 pixels;
- Ensure that the correct photography and video formats and specifications are used as requested by UAF-Africa.
- Both photographers/Videographers are expected to show appropriate sensitivity towards participants they will photograph or interview.
After the Festival
- Ensure that the footage is edited in line with the script agreed and approved by the UAF-Africa communications team.
- Ensure all audio-visual material aligns with UAF-Africa’s values and editorial voice.
- Ensure that all required photography and videography/video-editing jobs are completed and submitted on deadline.
Deliverables and Timelines
- The digital content developers are expected to work on various aspects of photography and video production for the festival, guided by the following deliverables and timelines:
On Each Festival day
- Submit a minimum of 100 edited digital images with full captions in high resolution shot as a RAW file 300 pixels/inch: minimum size 3000 x 2000 pixels;
- Submit a 2-to-3-minute short video highlighting the main activities for the day.
- Submit five creative quotations from the sessions.
Post the festival
- Submit complete sets of images shot as a RAW file 300 pixels/inch: minimum size 3000 x 2000 pixels, saved chronologically.
- Creative photographic designs with quotes from facilitators, speakers, healers, and
- participants. Production of six high-quality videos script writing, videography, editing, audio balancing, sub-titling and archiving raw and edited work according to UAF-Africa’s guidelines.
- Three theme-based interview videos 5 minutes
- Three videos highlighting various activities and proceedings during the festival 5 minutes
- Submit raw footage and photographs.
